Najmul Hossain Shanto fined for Code of Conduct breach

Sylhet Strikers opening batsman Najmul Hossain Shanto has been fined 30 percent of his match fees for a Level 1 breach of the BCB Code of Conduct. The player was penalised for the CoC violation during Tuesday’s Ispahani Bangladesh Premier League T20 Qualifier 2 match against Rangpur Riders at the SBNCS, Mirpur.

Shanto was found in breach of Article 2.2 of the BCB Code of Conduct for Players which refers to showing dissent at an umpire’s decision.

In addition to the fine, two (02) demerit points have been added to the disciplinary record of Shanto. This was the player’s second CoC breach in the tournament and took his demerit point count to three (03).

The player admitted his offence and accepted the sanction proposed by Match Referee A.S.M Roquibul Hassan and as such, there was no need for a formal hearing.

On-field umpires Raveendra Wimalasiri and Prageeth Rambukwella, third umpire Tanvir Ahmed and fourth official Ali Arman Rajon levelled the charges.

Level 1 breaches carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand, a maximum penalty of 50 per cent of a player’s match fee, and one or two demerit points.
